Landon Cabell Garland (1810-1895) was the president of the University of Alabama. Mary Lewis McCampbell (1832-1906) married Capt. William Alexander Lackey (183-1889) in 1862 at Rockbridge County. He enlisted in 14^th Virginia Cavalry Regiment, Company C, in 1861. His military records are easily found online; he was captured multiple times and spent times in Camp Chase and Fort Delaware.
