Faison Depot NC was first settled around 1733. Henry Faison purchased a 975-acre tract of land in 1776 or 1788, depending on the source, that would later become the town of Faison. A post office has been in operation there since 1838. The population in 2020 was noted as 784. In 1865, Sherman’s army stayed in the Isham R. Faison House during its march through the South. Wilmington & Raleigh Railroad tracks connected through Faison’s Depot parallel to the stagecoach road. In 1840 the rail was completed, and the 161.25 miles of rail was the longest railroad in the world at that time. Faison was also a stop on the former Atlantic Coast Line Railroad, formed in 1900, although predecessor railroads had used the brand since 1871. Faison eventually dropped “Depot” from its name.
