Julien Davis Cumming (1830-1864) of Mount Zion, Georgia, practiced law in Augusta, Ga., from 1852 until the outbreak of the war. He enlisted March 22, 1862, as 1st Lieut. and Adjutant of Georgia 48th Infantry. He was wounded and taken prisoner at Gettysburg and died March 8, 1864, at Johnson’s Island from the effects of his wounds. He was buried in Marietta, Ga.
