BRISTOE STATION VA SEP 4 boldy struck clear circular datestamp with manuscript “Due five” (UNLISTED as such – others valued in catalog at $150-200) upside down to right of postmark on cover addressed in peacock-blue ink to Mrs. Marry Mull, Morganton, Burk County NC in Cear (sic) of Henry Mull with mandated military endorsement at top “David Mull private in company Co. D 6th N.C. State Troops.” Slight edge wear, particularly at left and bottom. $150.

David Mull was 27 years old when he enlisted May 28, 1861, at Mecklenburg County, NC, as a private. He was mustered into Co. D, NC 6th Infantry. He was wounded July 2, 1863, at Gettysburg, listed as a prisoner of July 4 and died of his wounds on July 6, 1863.
