On a commercially made envelope to Mrs. Miles Selden Near Sublett’s Tavern, Powhatan County, Va. with pencil docketing up the left side “Rec’d Dec 13 1861, Ans. Dec 20/.” City Point covers with CSA use are very scarce, as this area in Prince George County was occupied very early in the war by Union forces. City Point later became a significant Union base, exchange center and Grant’s Headquarters during the Siege of Petersburg. Small tear at upper left and back flap tears, otherwise Very Fine.
