LIBERTY Va. 28 NOV circular datestamp with matching PAID 5 (CC type A, CV $200) on small lady’s cover with embossed flowers on tip of back flap, to Camillus Christian, Lynchburg, Va. On verso is written in pencil “only two known” to which I cannot attest (looks like Molesworth handwriting). The addressee Ex Billy Matz and John Vagnetti. Very fine. $230.

Camillus Christian (1834-1915) had short service in the Second Virginia cavalry. He enlisted as a private in Company B on May 13, 1861, and was discharged for disability in August. After the war, he was a prosperous Lynchburg banker and businessman who also served on the city council. Family papers housed in the Library of Virginia.
