Heinrich Ludwig Otto Brinkmann (1832-1915) did civilian contract work for the Confederate Army. He was a German immigrant carpenter born in Hoexter, Kreis Höxter, Nordrhein-Wesfalen, Germany, in 1832. He married Marie Johanne Caroline Ochse (also born in Germany) in 1867 in Kerr County, Texas. Their home in Comfort, built in 1861, is a recorded Texas Historic Landmark that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. They had six children and are buried in Comfort, Texas.
