Daniel B. Edwards (1836-1911) was a small planter from Dallas County, Alabama, who owned six slaves. He was elected 2ndLieutenant of Company A, 44th Alabama Infantry and was promoted to captain in 1864. Edwards served throughout the war. He was captured at Suffolk, Va., and briefly prisoner-of-war in Fort Delaware. He was exchanged and rejoined his unit in time for Gettysburg. More info may be found online.
