He notes that fewer than 160 covers exist with Confederate States adhesive stamps used from within Arkansas and less than 50 on covers addressed to Arkansas. William Henry Harrison Shibley (1840-1932) was born in Ralls County, Missouri. He moved to Crawford County with his parents in 1860. In 1862, he enlisted in the Confederate Army as a private in Company G, 22nd Regiment, Arkansas Infantry. He fought in the battles of Prairie Grove, Saline River, and Helena. He was made second lieutenant after the Battle of Helena and then first lieutenant. At the time Fort Smith was surrendered to the Federals, he was acting adjutant of the regiment and commanding his company. On August 16, 1866, he married Esther A. Cook who was born in Dearborn, IN. They had 6 children, 2 of whom were deaf (Harry and Mary). Both children went to the school for the deaf in Little Rock, AR and were prominent teachers there until their retirement and/or death. Source: findagrave.com
