Dr. Charles E. Taylor *1853-1910) served in three separate Virginia units before transferring to the Confederate Signal Corps in August 1864. Taylor served in the signal unit assigned to W.H.F. Lee’s Cavalry Division. He wrote a 1903 pamphlet on the history of the Bureau’s creation and methods of operation on all front and at sea.
