Dr. George Scarborough Barnsley entered the war as a private, 8th GA Infantry, from Cass Co, Ga. He was detailed as a Hospital Steward to the same regiment and later in the war he served in various hospitals in Richmond and in the Surgeon General's Office. While in Richmond he attended classes at the Medical College of Virginia, earned an M.D. degree, and was appointed Asst. Surgeon. After the war he was disillusioned with prospects in the United States and emigrated to Brazil where he died in 1918.
Lancelot Minor Blackford enlisted in the Virginia Rockbridge 1st Light Artillery on 9-2-61 and was later promoted to 24th VA Infantry Field & Staff as adjutant. He was a graduate of UVA and post-war was principal for the Episcopal High School, Alexandria, Va.
