Office, Atlanta Arsenal, Official" boxed handstamp Semi-Official Imprint (CSA Catalog UNLISTED), addressed to Lieut. W. F. Paine, Comdg Guard of Mil(itary) Prison, Atlanta, Ga., 3 vertical creases, Fine appearing. An extremely rare unlisted semi-official imprint, possibly unique. $800.

William F. Paine enlisted May 1, 1862, as a 1st lieut. and was commissioned into Company B (“True Mississippians”), Mississippi 30th Infantry. They fought in the Atlanta Campaign. M.S.K. stood for Military Storekeeper who would have been the officer responsible for managing and overseeing the production, storage, and distribution of a variety of ordnance, weapons, ammunition, and other military supplies for the Confederacy. This office would have been crucial in ensuring that Confederate troops were adequately equipped during the war.
