Dr. Cary Charles Cocke, a physician, was born in 1814 and died in 1888. His father was Confederate General John Hartwell Cocke - Virginia planter, reformer, general, and statesman as well as a director of the James River and Kanawha Company and a member of the board of visitors of the University of Virginia.
