Texas: Galveston & Lynchburg: two 1861 covers from the same correspondence franked with U.S. 3¢ dull red (26). Both have with original and extensive letters addressed to Miss M.F. Wiswell, South Framingham, Mass. datelined at "Lynchburg, Harris Co., Texas” on March 10 and April 7, 1861, entering mails with partial "Galveston Tex." cds. Scarce pair of Confederate Texas covers from addressee’s sister – only family chit chat and no mention of the political situation of the time.$425.

Martha F. Wiswell (1832-1911) was born to Joseph Warren Wiswell and Martha True Wiswell. She had nine siblings, some of whom served in the Army during the war. Lynchburg, Texas, was in Harris County north of Galveston.
