CSA 7, 5¢ blue pair tied CHARLESTON S.C. NOV 24 186- on cover to Capt. J.C. Wrenshall, Engineer’s Dept. Macon, Ga. $125.

Capt. John C. Wrenshall (1834-1926) was an architect and civil engineer in charge of the engineer’s office in Macon, Ga. He was also responsible for converting field notes and duplicating maps for use by the Army. He served in the Confederate Nitre and Mining Bureau. He was attached to the staff of Gen. Bragg as well as Gen. Joseph Wheeler. After the war, he was in charge of the restoration of railroad bridges destroyed by opposing armies. He was born in Pittsburg, Pa., lived for a time in Baltimore and Hagerstown, but died at his home in Torquay England at age 91.
