(Assistant Surgeon CSA) Montgomery White Sulphur (Springs) Virginia at a CSA hospital; July 30th 1863 docketing on reverse, top back flap removed, Fine, signed usual tiny (August) Dietz & "E.D.F." (Eben D. Finney).  $800.

Dr. George W. Archer
(1924-1907) served as a surgeon in Stonewall Jackson's brigade. He lost his hearing due to the cannon fire at Manassas/Bull Run. Montgomery White Sulphur Springs was a popular resort area of the 19th Century that was converted to a military hospital during the Civil War. He never married.
