William H. Toler enlisted as a captain and was commissioned into Co. C, Louisiana 14th Infantry on June 1, 1861. Toler was badly wounded in the thigh on June 30, 1862, at the Battle of Glendale (Frayser’s Farm) on the sixth day of the Seven Days Battles (Peninsula Campaign).
