CSA 2b, 10¢ dark blue Paterson (faulty), unusually dark shade for a Paterson, tied MOBILE ALA  APR 16 double-circle cancel on cover addressed to Miss Margaret Stuart, ‘Edgehill’, King George Co, Va where REDIRECTED Care Dr. [Richard] Stuart Care Wister & Williams, Richmond, Va with manuscript cancel of Port Conway [Va] Nov. 20 62 with no apparent extra charge. $250.

Dr. Richard Stuart built “Cleydael” in 1859 as a summer residence for his family. Stuart is well known for having denied John Wilkes Booth refuge there after the assassination of Lincoln. U.S. President James Madison was also born in Port Conway at Belle Grove plantation, the childhood home of his mother, Eleanor Rose "Nellie" Conway, the daughter of owner Francis Conway, for whom Port Conway was named.
