CSA 12-ADa, 10¢ milky blue (4 margins) used with B Rt (Bachelor’s Retreat S.C.) manuscript postmark on adversity cover made from two-sided unused printed Post Office form. The writer of the brief letter was the previous postmaster, E. P. Verner who was replaced as M April 1st 1861 by D. D. Verner, undoubtedly a relative. The town’s name was changed to Retreat in 1891 and the PO was discontinued in 1901.  The addressee is J. E. Hagood Esq., Pickens, S.C. Wonderful showy use! [SC] $375.
