George Washington Lafayette Blount (1837-1895) was a lawyer (began a practice in 1860), a judge, and mayor of Wilson, North Carolina. He enlisted in the Confederate Army on March 26, 1862, as a 1st lieutenant in Company A, 55th NC Regiment, where he served as Assistant Quarter Master. He was promoted to captain but by November 1, 1862, he was dismissed to become the mayor of Wilson, possibly also provost marshal.
