Item# 20917

CSA 11c, 10¢ bluish green (4 lovely margins, corner creases, penciled box frame around the stamp) tied perfectly struck blue CDS of WOODSTOCK Va. DEC 9. The postmark is not listed in blue in the stampless section of the CSA catalog. Cover addressed to Miss Cora De M. Pritchartt, Richmond, Virginia. Cover is a bit war-weary but the stamp and cancel have a lovely appearance. Ex John Vagnetti. $180.

Cora DeMovell
Pritchartt Williams (1840-1927) was married in 1871 to James Harrison Williams (1836-1903), a notable lawyer of the Shenandoah Valley and Confederate officer in Virginia Ashby Hose Light Artillery. During the war, Cora worked for the Confederate Treasury signing in registering bonds in the Confederacy.
