CSA 11-AD, 10¢ blue with ample to enormous margins including sheet margin at bottom, tied on back flaps by nicely struck small RED TAYLORSVILLE VA SEP circular datestamp on small narrow envelope to Miss Elmira Phillips, Fair Haven, Moore County, N.C. Amazingly, the stamp and flaps are completely intact; opened neatly at left end. SCV $160. Ex John Vagnetti. $150.

Taylorsville, Virginia, is a populated place in Hanover County between Richmond and Fredericksburg. The Virginia Postal History Society Catalog shows a population of 28 people with the first postmaster appointed in 1819. Gen. Robert E. Lee had his headquarters at Taylorsville May 24-26, 1864, as his army moved southeastward to intervene between Grant and Richmond.
