Robert Rufus Bridgers (1819-1888) was a Confederate congressman 1862-65 representing North Carolina, a banker, and a railroad official. He had a law practice in Tarboro, as well as a mercantile business. He also operated the High Shoals Iron furnaces, considered the second most important in the South.
