ADAM’S RUN, SOUTH CAROLINA, is a census-designated place (CDP) that has had a post office since 1843. It was first listed as a CDP in 2020 with a population of 421. During the war, Adams Run served as the headquarters for the Confederate Sixth Military District. It was also a location for several Confederate units, including the 16th Infantry Regiment and the 6th SC Cavalry. The village was evacuated by Confederate forces on February 16, 1865, and came under Federal control the following day. Originally called Adamsville, the area is home to several historic plantations including Grove Plantation, Summit Plantation, and Willtown Bluff Plantation. Daniel M. Telep exhibited a collection of Adam’s Run Confederate postal history that was sold by John W. Kaufmann, Inc. in December 1987
