William Anderson Roberts
(1837-1900) was an artist, farmer and soldier who served in Company A, 14th Regiment, North Carolina Infantry (State Troops). Roberts participated in the Battle of Gettysburg. Ill with jaundice, he entered Moore Hospital in Richmond 17 Sept 1863 but in November was transferred to the Confederate hospital in Danville with a dislocated shoulder. Other illnesses also plagued him throughout the war. Anderson Roberts, no relation known, served in Company K, 6th Regiment, North Carolina Troops. Researchers often confuse the William Anderson Roberts with an Anderson Roberts. The two men lived about the same time in Piedmont, North Carolina, and both served for the Confederacy. Researchers are advised not to take at face value the description of William Anderson Robert's Civil War service as it may be (and has been) confused with that of Anderson Roberts (c.1837-c.1900).
