MAR 10 186- (Welch type A26a used 1862-1865, dating this to 1862-1864) with matching pre-war handstamped “2” used for local drop rate (CSA Catalog type H, CCV $500) on adversity cover fashioned from Georgia railroad form on which is printed “Charleston, Received in good order from Lanneau & Whilden, at the So. Ca. Rail Road Depository, to be forwarded to the Ga. R. R. Depot.” Addressed to W.D. Clancy Esq, Cashier Union Bank. Interesting info easily available online for the French Huguenot family of Lanneau, entwined with Whilden. Lower left corner could easily be turned back to expose more of the receipt.
