LAKE CITY / FLA // FEB / 19 cds with matching DUE 10 (CSA Catalog type F, CCV $350) to Mrs. Mattie A. Inglet, Berzelia, Georgia, with endorsement at lower left “From Sergt. T. W. G. Inglet, Co. C, 28th Ga. Regt.” Bit soiled. $220.

Thomas W. G. Inglet enlisted as a private on September 10, 1861. He was appointed to 2nd Corporal on August 1, 1863. Pension records show that he was wounded in the left hand, necessitating amputation of two fingers, at Cold Harbor, Virginia, on June 27, 1862; and again in the right foot at Darbytown Road, Virginia, on October 7, 1864. He was furloughed from Jackson Hospital at Richmond, Virginia, in 1864, and was in an Augusta, Georgia, hospital at the close of the war. He was born in Richmond County, Georgia, on February 27, 1839. His wife was Martha (Mattie). The 28th also contained Andrew Edwin Inglett and Thomas Inglett. Although their last names were spelled differently, the possibility of confusion between the two Toms may have been a reason for Thomas W. G. Inglet to use both his middle initials on all documents and letters.
