LIBBY PRISON, RICHMOND, VA: prisoner cover with Old Point Comfort Va. Nov 10 dcds and matching DUE 6 circled handstamp, endorsed M. M. Moore, 2nd Lieut., Prisoner of War at left and addressed to his mother Mrs. A. W. Moore at Grand Rapids Mich.; Feb. 14, 1864 letter from same correspondence accompanies where he states he is able to only write six lines and he expects to stay in prison for the duration of the war, Very Fine. One of the Union 600 held captive under fire of their own guns in Charleston as listed in In and Out of Rebel Prisons by Alonzo Cooper. Malcolm M. Moore enlisted as a Super 2nd Lieut. (I have no idea what that rank means) on August 28, 1862, at age 19. Residence Grand Rapids, Mi. He was commissioned into Co. I, Michigan 6th 
Cavalry on October 11, 1862, and mustered out 11-24-65 at Fort Leavenworth, KS. He was taken prisoner 10-18-63 as Charles Town WV and confined at Macon, GA, and Columbia, SC. He was returned 4-1-1865, place not stated. He rose through the ranks as high as Major by Brevet 3-13-65.
