Richard Deloney Bolling Taylor (1830-1864) served in Company F of Georgia 3rd Battalion State Guard Cavalry. He was son of Robert Taylor, born in Ireland, an immigrated to Savannah in the 1790s. The family were wealthy planters and slave owners. When the father died in 1859, he owned over 17,000 acres throughout Georgia and his estate was valued at more than $450,000.
